[Patricia, pa@smartXXL.com]:
Hye there,
I have some pictures for your XXL site of my MB100D
which I have bought in March 2002.
The MB100 is from 1992, had approx. 206 000 km on the counter
and is a long high version.
I've bought the MB100 for my hobby which is windsurfing.
I used to have a windsurftrailer for behind the car
but the more windsurfgear I bought
the trailer went heavier so I was looking for a small truck.
I had a few points:
- The truck must be high so I can stand in it.
- It must be so long that even the bigger boards must fit inside the truck.
After a little search on the internet I found out
that possiblly a Mercedes was the best choice
and as it must been that way a local garage had an MB100
long and high version for sale.
After a test drive and some discussion with my girlfriend
I have bought the MB100 and did some work on it.
This is what I`ve removed or installed:
- removed the back wall of the cabin,
- removed the battery from left side to the right, behind the seat.
- installed on the right side wall carriers for 4 windsurf boards,
- below that I`ve a carrier for my masts (5 in total),
- my windsurfsails (7 in total) and booms (3) are standing right up
behind the drivers seat,
- I`ve made both on the right and left side some boxes
were I can put some stuff in and with a plate between them
I`ve a floor were the matras is on for sleeping.
The MB100 was so ready for the first holiday,
we had 3 weeks and the plan was to go to Spain and maybe Portugal.
Well we did.
We drove at night from Weesp (near Amsterdam) to Barcelona
and from there on, on good luck with the campings along the coast
(no highways) to Tarifa (the Windsufcapitol of Europe).
From Tarifa to Lissabon the north and along the coast of France
back to the Netherlands and Home.
The MB100 did well, sleeping in it was great
and to get the stuff out of the van was easy.
During this holiday we drove approx. 7 000 km without trouble.
This year we plan some short vacations in the Netherlands
off course with the MB100 and next year we want to go to Denmark or ...
